Talk with Professor Claudia Rahmann from University of Chile

Professor Claudia Rahmann from University of Chile visited TU Berlin for two weeks in July 2017. On 6 July, she held a presentation about her current research topics. The main focus was on the validity range of fundamental frequency simulation under high levels of variable generation technologies.

OVANET Project Meeting at TU Berlin

SENSE hosted the semi-annual project meeting of the project OVANET at TU Berlin on 5 July 2017. The participants from Amprion, Siemens, Südkabel, TU Berlin, TU Darmstadt, TU Ilmenau and VDE discussed the progress of the different work packages and the achievements of the last three years of research.

OptNetzE Project Meeting at TU Berlin

The semi-annual project meeting of the project OptNetzE took place on 23 May 2017 at TU Berlin. At this meeting, the progress within different work packages was discussed. DThe participants were from 50Hertz, Stromnetz Berlin, E.DIS, BTB, BAUM Consult, Bosch SI, New Energy Capital Invest, BTU Cottbus and TU Berlin.

Meeting of MIGRATE Work Package 5 at TU Berlin

SENSE hosted the workshop of work package 5 of EU Horizon 2020 project MIGRATE at TU Berlin on 16 and 17 May 2017. The participants from EirGrid, Electroinštitut Milan Vidmar, Elering, ELES, Tallinn University of Technology, TenneT, TU Berlin, University of Ljubljana, and University of Manchester discussed the progress and current activities. Work package 5 is focused on power quality in transmission grids.

Poster presentation at "3. Dialogplattform Power to Heat"

Third-place best poster award: At the VDE-conference "3. Dialogplattform Power to Heat", Stefan Bschorer presented an innovative solution for an ice storage unit in a multi-energy smart grid. Co-authors were Dr. Maren Kuschke and Professor Kai Strunz for the conference held in Berlin, 15 and 16 May 2017. The jury honored the work with a third rank among all posters presented.

Talk with Professor Hsiao-Dong Chiang from Cornell University

Professor Hsiao-Dong Chiang, faculty at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, visited TU Berlin on 9 May 2017. He presented his effective methodology for on-line transient stability assessment and enhancement. The validation was shown for a 14,500-bus power system. 

Meetings in Beijing with BIT and Chinese Academy of Sciences, January 2017

Upon invitation of the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), Professors Göhlich und Strunz visited the Electric Vehicle Labs and Big-Data Center at the Xishan Campus of BIT, Beijing, China, 13 January 2017. Professor Strunz moved on to meet with Dr. Ye Hua of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on 14 January 2017.

Defense of Doctoral Thesis by Felix Klein

Felix Klein successfully defended his doctoral thesis on 24 January 2017. The committee was chaired by Prof. Ronald Plath. Examiners were Prof. Kai Strunz, Prof. Peter Palensky of TU Delft, and Prof. Istvan Erlich of University Duisburg-Essen.

Sustainable Energy Education and Research for All Initiative 2017

The conference EnergieWendeBauen 2017 served for the discussion of intelligent energy management and future supply of buildings and quarters. In his presentation entitled "Energienetz Berlin Adlershof: Primärenergie-Einsparung durch Flexibilisierung der Kälteerzeugung", Professor Kai Strunz discussed results of a co-operative project of TU Berlin and Siemens on the reduction of primary energy in the supply of cooling systems.

Meeting of MIGRATE Work Package 5 on Power Quality at The University of Manchester

The contributors to Work Package 5 of EU Horizon 2020 project MIGRATE met at The University of Manchester on 2 March 2017. Participating institutions were Electroinštitut Milan Vidmar, Elering, ELES, TenneT, The University of Manchester, TU Berlin, and University of Ljubljana.
