IEEE PES Prize Paper Award 2015 für Dr.-Ing. Maren Kuschke und Professor Kai Strunz
Die IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) hat den Prize Paper Award 2015 an Dr. Maren Kuschke und Professor Kai Strunz für den Artikel “Transient Cable Overvoltage Calculation and Filter Design: Application to Onshore Converter Station for Hydrokinetic Energy Harvesting” verliehen. Der Preis wurde von IEEE PES Präsident Professor Miroslav Begovic beim diesjährigen IEEE PES Awards Dinner am 28. Juli 2015 in Denver, Colorado, offiziell überreicht. Neben den dort ebenfalls verliehenen Preisen für Lebenswerke handelt sich um die angesehenste Auszeichnung von IEEE PES für wissenschaftliche Arbeiten. Insgesamt werden jedes Jahr zwei wissenschaftlich hervorragende IEEE PES Artikel mit dem Preis ausgezeichnet. IEEE PES veröffentlich derzeit jährlich rund 1500 Artikel in Journalen und mehrere tausend weitere Artikel auf Kongressen. Abgerufen werden kann die Arbeit in den IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, Vol. 28, No. 3, 2013.
CKI-Conference "Designing Berlin's Digital Infrastructures"
Professor Kai Strunz discussed integrated energy networks at the conference "Designing Berlin's Digital Infrastructures" organized by the Center of Knowledge Interchange of Siemens and TU Berlin. As part of the conference, participants had the opportunity to visit the SENSE smart grid laboratory. Berlin, 14 December 2015.
World Engineering Conference and Convention in Kyoto
At the World Engineering Conference and Convention (WECC2015) in Kyoto, a panel organized by University of Tokyo and with experts from NEDO of Japan, EPRI of USA, Tokyo Electric Power Company, and TU Berlin discussed the topics of smart grid and smart community. Professor Kai Strunz of TU Berlin reported on advances from European projects SuSTAINABLE and e-Highway2050. Kyoto, 2 December 2015.
3rd IGREENGrid-SiNGULAR-SuSTAINABLE Global Joint Conference of EU Projects

Final e-Highway2050 Conference on Modular European Grid Expansion until 2050
SENSE contributed the presentation "The modular development plan from 2030 to 2050" at the final conference "Europe’s Future Secure and Sustainable Electricity Infrastructure" of the e-Highway2050 project. The presentation was held by Markus Gronau. Brussels, 4 November 2015.
Digital Science Match 2015
The Digital Science Match with about 1300 participants promoted the exchange and visibility on digital technology innovation from the greater Berlin area. A series of three-minute presentations by 100 scientists in Berlin's former "Kosmos" cinema offered insights of recent advances and ongoing activities. SuSTAINABLE Executive Board Meeting No. 10 in Rhodes
The consortium of the EU project SUSTAINABLE met in September on the Greek island of Rhodes to discuss the final steps of the project and the preparation of the demonstration activities. The meeting included a visit to the control center of Rodini and its affiliated substation, which has a key role in supplying island. Rhodes, 30 September 2015.
CIRED 2015
At the 23rd International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution CIRED in Lyon, a round table was organised on the research activities that were developed within the EU project SuSTAINABLE. Despina Koraki participated in the round table discussions and held a presentation on the work that was developed in SENSE with the title “Virtual Power Plant for Electricity Market Integration”. Lunch Talk at Metropolitan Solutions 2015
At the exhibition and conference "Metropolitan Solutions", SENSE presented the idea of a smart grid in Berlin Adlershof. The presentation, held by Stefan Bschorer, was part of the "TU Berlin BrainBox - Smart City Berlin 2030" project, which is coordinated by CHORA city & energy Institute. Berlin, 22 May 2015.
SuSTAINABLE Executive Board Meeting No. 9 and 4th General Assembly in Berlin
The consortium of the EU project SUSTAINABLE met in May for the 9th executive board meeting and the 4th general assembly in Berlin. The partners discussed the ongoing activities and the preliminary results of the project. The meeting included a visit at the SENSE Smart Grid laboratory and a demonstration related with the work developed within the project. Berlin, 12 May 2015.
