WindNODE Challenge
During the "Clusterkonferenz Energietechnik Berlin-Brandenburg" on 5 December 2018, Christine Michalek participated in the final round of the WindNODE Challenge. Her 5-minutes-pitch reached 4th place. It introduced the Smart.Grid app of SENSE as an opportunity to inspire excitement for the topic of the German energy transition.
Poster presentation at "4. Dialogplattform Power to Heat"
Best poster award for Sebastian Georgi: At the VDE-conference "4. Dialogplattform Power to Heat", Sebastian Georgi presented an innovative approach for the optimal operation of a combined electric and district heating network including power-to-heat units and heat pumps for the integration of wind energy. Co-authors were Dr. Maren Kuschke and Professor Kai Strunz for the conference held in Berlin, 11 and 12 June 2018. The jury honored the work with a best poster award.
Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2018
During the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" on 9 June 2018, Stefan Bschorer and Christine Michalek presented the research project "Energienetz Berlin Adlershof" and promoted the Smart.Grid app. Visitors had the opportunity to try the app game on site and they could also obtain detailed information about the project and smart grid in Berlin Adlershof.
German – Russian roundtable on "Innovative Solutions in Smart Urban Energy in Germany and Russia" in Irkutsk
Stefan Bschorer from SENSE held a presentation at the German – Russian roundtable on "Innovative solutions in smart city energy in Germany and Russia". The roundtable was part of the exposition on energy efficiency in Irkutsk on 23 and 24 May 2018. After the reception by the Rector of Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Michail Kornikov, a delegation consisting of German and Russian researchers visited laboratories at Irkutsk National Research Technical University and Melentiev Energy Systems Institute.
OptNetzE Project Meeting at TU Berlin
The semi-annual project meeting of the project OptNetzE took place on 23 May 2017 at TU Berlin. At this meeting, the progress within different work packages was discussed. DThe participants were from 50Hertz, Stromnetz Berlin, E.DIS, BTB, BAUM Consult, Bosch SI, New Energy Capital Invest, BTU Cottbus and TU Berlin.
Presentation at conference IEEE MELECON’18
Simon Hellmuth from SENSE gave an invited presentation at the 19th IEEE MELECON. The conference took place in Marrakesh on 2 and 3 May 2018. The topic, “Frequency variations in transmission systems with a high share of wind power”, included interim results of the EU Horizon 2020 project MIGRATE.
Samuel Schilling and Peter Teske preseted posters to the topics "Representation of Losses of HVDC Converters in Power Flow Calculation" and "Smart Grid Integration of Electric Buses" at ADCGS in Aachen on 19 and 20 April 2018.
The jury honored the Poster "Smart Grid Integration of Electric Buses - Implementation of a Uni- an Bidiretional Charging Infrastructure" with a Best Poster Award. Co-authors were Enrico Lauth, Dr. Andreas F. Raab, Prof. Dietmar Göhlich and Prof. Kai Strunz.
Grand opening and inauguration of Berlin‘s new high power charging station for electric buses at EUREF-Campus
On 12 April 2018, a new high power charging station for electric buses was inaugurated at EUREF-Campus. The integration into the smart grid on the EUREF-Campus demonstrates prototypically what contribution electric buses and other electric vehicle fleets can make to a future energy supply.
