"Smart Grid Alliance Adlershof" is part of the project "Energy network Berlin Adlershof" supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. This collaborative project is realized by TU Berlin, HTW Berlin and Siemens AG. The primary objective is to research and plan a multi energy carrier Smart Grid for the campus Adlershof.

Vision: Multi Energy Carrier Smart Grid in Adlershof

A multi energy carrier Smart Grid can support the integration of renewable energies. For example, excess electricity can be converted directly into the required energy medium cold or heat. The used thermal storage systems nowadays are less expensive than battery storage.

Another possibility are flexible power loads, for example individual production processes. A temporal shift adjusts them to the renewable energy generation.

The objective is to create an interest group of companies and institutions, which participate in the establishment of the Smart Grid and which contribute in joining the power engineering characteristics.
